- Two point
- Full seat ( three point)
- Half seat (light seat).
Three riding positions supplying you with a variety of tools in your horse training tool box.
When judging, I’ve observed stock show type equitation riders (ie AQHA), tend to excel at full seat and may find two-point challenging. Whereas hunter riders may lack confidence in full seat, typically opting to canter in half seat.
This short article, excerpted from “Beyond Two-Point,” appeared in Practical Horseman, May 2006 but remains relevant and explains the qualities of each riding position.
