Thoughts from a Canadian horse show judge
Horse judging across a few disciplines is wearing many hats. And lots of learning!
Winter in Canada brings snow, seminars and judge’s exams. Hunter/Jumper, AQHA, Working Equitation, Extreme Cowboy, Mountain Trail and exhibitions with a mix of breeds – every judging assignment, big or smaller is a blessing I’ve learned never take for granted.
At a recent horse judges’ conference, I scribbled down this line from the key note speaker: “Judges’ placings this season will affect training practices and breeding choices next season.“ AQHA 2nd Vice Pres. Lori Bucholz.
A responsibility to keep top of mind for all judges, across disciplines.
